Do we need obedience to receive the blessings of the Lord? We are born again in Christ therefore our blessings come through him not from our doings. We will learn to be obedient because the grace of God teaches us to be so. "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:12). None of us can be obedient by our own self-effort. Obedience comes from surrendering to the Holy Spirit so that he may work in us as it is the will of God. It is an amazing feeling to surrender to God. When we surrender unto him we get to grow in grace and mature in his ways. "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen" (2 Peter 3:18). Let us focus on the will of God by meditating on his words daily. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:2).
